Discovery Museum and Tyne and Wear Archives

As part of Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, Discovery Museum brings the people, places, inventions and stories of the North East to life. A visit to Discovery builds pupils’ knowledge, skills and curiosity, while encouraging a deeper understanding of the past, present and future of their local area. Its learning offer provides engaging educational experiences through interactive galleries, facilitated workshops and hands-on activities. Developed with teachers, programmes enable pupils to explore local history, science, technology and innovation while making contemporary connections to their own lives. Self-led resources and ‘Boxes of Delight’ loan boxes extend learning beyond the museum, supporting teaching and inspiring further learning in the classroom.
