Pendennis Castle, English Heritage

There can be fewer more dramatic heritage settings than Pendennis Castle. Built on a commanding headland overlooking one of England’s most important deepwater Channel ports, its design as an artillery fort makes perfect sense and the way this developed from Tudor times to the 20th century to deter and deflect seaborne attack can be easily seen and understood. The excellent education service adds to the level of understanding, offering well-resourced, interactive and engaging learning opportunities to make visits to this important site enjoyable and inspiring as well as instructive.
